Mac and Cheese by Reddit

  • 1 Large pot

  • 1 Baking dish or cast iron pan

  • 1 Wooden spoon

  • 1 Colander

Ingredients
  • NaN box Pasta
  • NaN stick Butter
  • NaN tbsp All purpose flour
  • NaN cups Half and half
  • NaN cup Heavy cream
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
  • NaN tbsp Minced garlic
  • NaN White onion
  • NaN cup Sour cream
  • NaN oz Sharp cheddar
  • NaN oz White cheddar
  • NaN oz Smoked Gouda
  • NaN oz Monterey Jack
  • to taste Paprika
  • to taste Nutmeg
  • to taste Bread crumbs

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.

  2. Melt butter, garlic and onion in a large pot. Sauté.

  3. Stir in flour and constantly stir until integrated.

  4. Add half and half and heavy cream to pot and stir until boiling. Wait until mixture thickens.

  5. Fold in all the cheese, salt, pepper, paprika and sour cream.

  6. Allow cheese to melt until sauce is smooth (medium to low heat).

  7. Cook pasta to Al Dente.

  8. Pour pasta into baking dish OR cast iron pan.

  9. Pour cheese mixture into dish and mix together with pasta.

  10. Lightly dust top of dish with nutmeg, bread crumbs, and cheese.

  11. Cook in oven for 10-15 minutes until golden brown and bubbling.
